Familiar bird around Europe. Each bird has a specific coloration. Preys on small gnawers, occasionally also on reptiles, frogs and other invertebrates in open fields. When mice are not well available, the buzzard might not reproduce at all. Lek mating starts around March-April and builds a nest from sticks on top of the tree. Lays 2 to 4 eggs that are being watched over mostly by the female. The oldest ringed buzzard reached 25 years of age.
