Family: Canidae

A unique canid from South America. Tall legs help moving and hunting in tall grass. Big ears work as locators and can easily hunt using them. Active during nights and diet consists mostly of plants. Shares about an 20–30 km² territory with a partner. Although maned wolf is monogamous, meets its partner mainly during rut. Both adults raise cubs. Lives up to 12 to 15 years.
