An exciting trip to the heart of Africa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1989. The Pachyderm House, built in 1989 for the fiftieth anniversary of the Zoo, is home to today’s largest land mammals, African savannah elephants<\/strong> with powerful tusks in danger of extinction. Eastern black rhinoceros<\/strong>, which are in a critical state in the wild, and the pygmy hippopotamus<\/strong> with a solitary and covert way of life, which is also in danger of extinction, also live here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the list of predators, you can see beautiful high-legged cat caracals<\/strong> and always a vivid and ready-to-act family of meerkats<\/strong>. Mice are represented by the Asian<\/strong> minor spiny mice<\/strong>, Barbary striped mice<\/strong>, and domestic and laboratory rats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also see a lot of exciting reptiles: one of the longest snakes in the world, the Burmese python<\/strong>, a ball python<\/strong> that became famous as a bracelet of Egyptian queen Cleopatra, a beautifully patterned boa constrictor<\/strong>, a yellow anaconda<\/strong> lurking for a catch in the water. In addition, smaller boas<\/strong>, differently colored colubrids<\/strong>, a legless lizard<\/strong>, slow warm blue-tongued skink<\/strong>, Jackson’s chameleon<\/strong>, a black-lined plated lizard<\/strong>, a Cape girdled lizard<\/strong>, geckos<\/strong>, leopard tortoises<\/strong>, and Russian tortoises<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
